What if we approached our minds the way a beloved kindergarten teacher approaches a chaotic classroom of kids, listening to all parts of ourselves with curiosity and collaboration?
This course introduces a somatic informed parts-work approach to navigate the choppy waters of intense emotional states, whatever their source. We’ll cover a brief history of somatics and parts-work across cultures, how these frameworks connect to contemplative practices, and why this combo is a growing favorite among therapists and activists. Mostly, we’ll use class time to develop DIY skills for nervous system care, trauma recovery, solid relationships, courage, self-love, and lasting peace.
Em Saunders, LCSW, MST (they/she) facilitates spaces for collective wisdom to grow. They spend a lot of time as a somatic therapist for neurodivergent teens and their families or practicing craniosacral therapy on O’odham and Yaqui land in Southern Arizona. Em also teaches nervous system hacks for broken open hearts, and tinkers with community mutual care projects, ritual, clay, words and hot-wired fiddles.
