This class series is a thoughtful exploration and investigation of the meaning of friendship and its practice in today’s often confusing world. Using the Buddhist framework of spiritual friendship, each week will focus on one of seven particular qualities and its relevance to oneself, others, and the world at large.

As a practice and perspective these qualities help us deepen friendship as a basic and important human relationship, and an essential mindset from which we relate to the world around us. Friendship has within it leverage upon which many of our actions hinge, and a compass to offer us direction when we feel confused or lost. Through these teachings we strengthen our own self-compassion and will gravitate to our kindred people.

We will also look deeper at discovering ways to open space for diverse friendships, including building bridges to differences between us. Finding our freedom and larger place in the human family, in an often unjust world, will require our capacity to be, feel, and cultivate relationships with people from various backgrounds and identities.
