The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is the foundational text of Classical Yoga philosophy. Written somewhere between 200 BCE and 200 CE, it is seen as a compilation of prior teachings rather than original thought. Since the original commentary upon the sutras by Sage Vyasa, revered yogis and scholars to this day contemplate the sutras to expand their understanding of the mind and consciousness.
The text can be studied technically, scholarly, scientifically, devotionally, ascetically – in this seminar we will approach the sutras practically and meditatively. We will go through Chapter 1 verse by verse in our 4 sessions- looking at different translation’s wordings, various commentators’ interpretations, and key concepts that are underneath the compact verses.
We will also take sutra suggestions into practice week by week- seeing how they are relevant in our personal experience. By the end of month you will know more about Yoga, more about the workings of your own mind and body, and how to bring Yoga wisdom alive in your daily life.
All levels of experience and interest are welcome. For Registered Yoga Teachers there are 6 CECs available upon completion.
*For those interested in Yoga Teacher Certification, there is an additional session to complete this module for 9 hours of Humanity Credit.
