TaikoMIND highlights “mindful learning” as participants play taiko- Japanese ensemble drumming. There’s nothing quiet about this mindful experience!
In this workshop participants will learn to play a traditional taiko song as an ensemble, using proper form. Activities, games and self-reflection will support the learning process in playful, interactive and meaningful ways to encourage real-world connections to everyday mindfulness.
Taiko drumming is irresistible fun – and easy to learn. It is a perfect venue for learning about culture, music, performance art, team building and mindfulness. Playing drums in a team requires focused attention, cooperation and self-discipline – key elements of the art form and essential life skills. Every person’s part matters to the whole group’s success.
All the while drummers are developing 5 important mindfulness skills: Calming, Noticing, Focusing, Adapting, and Connecting.
