Second Sunday Circle for this month:
There are many ways we can perceive and experience the world within and around us. Many of us are feeling deeply affected by transitions taking place in and around the world. How shall we respond with Purpose? What are you here to do in this lifetime? In this session, we will explore what it means to have a unique purpose, understood both in the context of your soul and also in the context of the world’s temporal needs. Philosopher Frederick Buechner calls this the place “where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” Soul-level purpose exists within the context of the time and space in which you are born into this world, not independent of it. We are indeed alive at a very special time.
Your Soul-Level purpose is not one that you “make up” or “decide upon.” It is one that you were born with, that you can learn to encounter, discover, and embody. Bill Plotkin in his book The Journey of Soul Initiation defines soul as “a person or thing’s unique ecological niche in the Earth community…all creatures have souls…every naturally occurring thing… every flower and stone; every river, mountain, forest; every cloud, storm, rainbow; every season; every species.”
In addition to the ideas above, we will discuss the three distinct purposes of “Wake up, Grow up, and Show up” a model explained by Jonathan Gustin, psychotherapist, meditation teacher, founder, and lead teacher of the Purpose Guide Institute. There will be a short teaching on the topics above to provide context, a guided meditation, time for reflection, discussion, and Q&A. Please bring a journal/notebook and a writing instrument.
The Second Sunday Circle is a monthly gathering to explore diverse topics relating to spiritual perspective, path, and practice in an experiential and conversational format. Long time and brand new sol center friends are welcome.
