“Let the person who cannot be alone beware of community. Let the person who is not in community beware of being alone.” Theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together
In this Second Sunday Circle, Natasha will share her understanding of the contemplative model and the value of contemplative practice as the foundation of community success. Of course, no practice guarantees a good community, yet it can help us arrive more aware of ourselves, and that makes a difference in how we are with each other.
From this brief study we will engage in a variety of interactive contemplative practices to explore themes of community. What are the qualities of our favorite communities, and how has that inspired how we are in the world? What doesn’t work, and what have we learned from those painful or disappointing experiences? What is the ideal or hope for the future, and how do we live into it?
We will facilitate in the spirit of lightness and creativity. Community is a bit like a shared kitchen, it goes better when each of us knows our own way around the stove. There is a great saying, “I belong because I am here.”
Join us for a few hours of camaraderie & contemplative community. No yoga mats or meditation cushions necessary.
