Leap Day of Mindfulness
Leap Day of Mindfulness with Natasha Korshak
$20 by February 15, and $25 thereafter
For those with mindfulness meditation experience, and MBSR alumni, this day of sustained practice is an opportunity to strengthen mind/body mechanisms and energize the battery of mindfulness in daily life.
It is easy to get caught up doing life and reacting habitually, this day supports your intention to be awake and responsive to your life, moment by moment.
If science is a useful motivator, a clinical study conducted at the University of Wisconsin in 2013 showed that such a day of sustained mindfulness practice, for those with some experience, can have a rapid, measurable, positive effects on gene-regulating machinery; in particular lessening inflammatory responses and improving cortisol recovery. In other words, less pain and more resiliency.
The day is quiet, with social speaking only at the beginning and end. There are structured periods of mindful sitting, walking, lying, and movement meditation with a combination of light guidance, considered inspiration, and silence.
