Topic for this month:
The inner path often calls us to turn inward, get still, and listen. Yet all the while, the outer world of form unfolds, often with great intensity and consequence. How can formal contemplative practice inform our choices throughout the day, when we are being regular people, chopping wood and carrying water? And for those of us who feel a longing to help alleviate global suffering and midwife universal liberation, does a relationship to our deeper nature, or to the great mystery, help us show up more effectively ? Em will bring insights from somatic therapy and activism to facilitate a conversation about dynamics that underlie our decisions and actions and what happens if we intentionally lean on contemplative practices in moments when we just don’t know what to do, in our intimate lives, and on the scale of social and political movements.
The Second Sunday Circle is a monthly gathering to explore diverse topics relating to spiritual perspective, path, and practice in an experiential and conversational format. Long time and brand new sol center friends are welcome.
Em Saunders, LCSW, MST (they/she) facilitates spaces for collective wisdom to grow. They spend a lot of time as a somatic therapist for neurodivergent teens and their families or practicing craniosacral therapy on O’odham and Yaqui land in Southern Arizona. Em also teaches nervous system hacks for broken open hearts, and tinkers with community mutual care projects, ritual, clay, words and hot-wired fiddles.
