Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, passive style of yoga that focuses on holding poses (asanas) for extended periods, typically 3-10 minutes, to target deeper connective tissues and promote flexibility and relaxation. The long holds and passive nature of yin yoga encourage stillness and introspection, and enhance connection to breath and body awareness.
The Yin practice will lead into an extended relaxation/meditation experience called Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep- a systematic process of deepening your felt connection to the body at ease and the mind at rest in awareness. Yoga Nidra as a formal practice is associated with better sleep, pain management, improved mood, enhanced memory, and creativity.
Laura Brandlen recently completed the 200 hour yoga teacher training offered here at the Sol Center. Laura has over 20 years experience practicing several modalities of yoga and has a special interest in yin, restorative, and nidra. When she discovered a limited amount of Yoga Nidra offerings in the Tucson area she decided to become a teacher and teach it. Restorative/Yin/Nidra yoga is the medicine our individual and collective nervous systems need right now. Laura is the mother to three grown daughters and has three grandboys whom she enjoys taking camping as often as possible.
