What if we approached our minds the way a beloved kindergarten teacher approaches a chaotic classroom of kids, listening to all parts of ourselves with curiosity and collaboration? What if doing so could help us consciously re-connect to something beyond the personality structure, reveal insight, and guide us towards skillful action during intense times?
This course reviews contemplative approaches that help us navigate intense emotions and life-choices, large and small. We’ll look at two primary methods (somatic processing and parts-work) to develop DIY skills. Sessions will explore how authority and societal power dynamics relate to inner work of this kind, and how inner work relates to our collective unfolding. Participants will learn tools for nervous system care, trauma recovery, strong relationships, courage, and self-love. The course will build upon previous similar courses with Em, and is also welcome to beginners of all kinds.
Em Saunders (they/she), facilitates spaces for collective wisdom to grow. They spend a lot of time as a somatic intensive outpatient therapist for neurodivergent teens, adults, and families or practicing craniosacral therapy on O’odham and Yaqui land in Southern Arizona. Em also provides virtual emotional and spiritual accompaniment for individuals and couples navigating transition, teaches nervous system hacks for broken open hearts, and tinkers with community mutual care projects, ritual, clay, words and hot-wired fiddles.
