Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative, floor based approach to working with the entire fabric of the body. A variety of poses target specific tissue zones that can become coagulated, limiting function and mobility. As the pace is slow and deliberate, each pose can be adjusted and modified in a myriad of ways to accommodate each unique body. People generally find Yin Yoga deeply restorative and surprisingly fascinating.
The 12 Meridian’s of Chinese medicine are thought to be beneficially affected by the longer held poses of Yin. The movement of Qi (pronounced chee) or prana in the body can become blocked by emotions, injury, lack of movement and other things in regular everyday life. Practicing yin yoga can help to stimulate this flow of energy in the body. Each session will focus on poses for each meridian pair and offer details on the physical emotional and psychological effects of blocking and unblocking these channels of energy. Bring your mat and your curiosity for exploring this ancient understanding of the body.
