Present Moment, Wonderful Moment: Experiencing Mindfulness

Present Moment, Wonderful Moment: Experiencing Mindfulness

One of the fruits of mindfulness is gratitude, knowing how to experience and appreciate the beauty and joy that is available right now.  This evening of mindfulness practice will focus on gratitude themes using the inspired words and teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, one of the most influential voices of mindfulness in our time.

Present Moment, Wonderful Moment is one of many such phrases that Thich Nhat Hanh, often referred to as Thay, uses to help people strengthen their conscious awareness and active appreciation of life.  This affirming approach also affords us new methods to resolve the pain and suffering that eclipse the present moment.

We will practice:

  • Mindful breathing, integrating words and phrases with the breath to expand the healing effects of the conscious breath.
  • Peaceful walking, linking our steps to the intention of peace for the wider community of the Earth.
  • Deep listening, strengthening our experience of resonance and empathy through open presence.

These practices are simple and profound.  They remind us of our innate ability to enjoy life and contribute to the greater good.  At this time we also practice in gratitude and support of Thay who recently suffered a stroke and is in critical condition.  Whether you are familiar with Thay’s writing or mindfulness practice, this is an opportunity to join the worldwide mindfulness community at this transitional time.

All are welcome to attend this free  offering.  No meditation experience is necessary.
