Clear Speaking – Mindful Communication

Listening is the first component of mindful communication, speaking is the second.  In our culture there is often more value given to speaking, even when our speech is misinformed.  From the perspective of mindfulness it is better to say nothing than to say something that is untrue or unkind.   In this Clear Speaking seminar we will play with basic practices that inspire more intention and more truth regarding all our communication.  As we know and forget, words can harm and words can heal.

  • We will look at what it means in general to be a more intentional speaker. How do you say what you mean and mean what you say?
  • We will explore the importance of silence and pauses, and the skill of saying I don’t know.
  • And we will discover various ways to hear our own voice, do we know what we are actually saying? Can we hear the feelings and meaning underneath the words?  Can we welcome our own truth and knowing?

If a class does not appear on the Schedule Page, it is not on the near term schedule. Private sessions may be arranged in the interim.
