SUMMARY:Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
DESCRIPTION:With Pamela Mirsky, M.D., FACLP\nWednesdays, September 23rd through November 11th , from 2:00 to 4:00 pm  $650\nMBCT is an intervention designed for individuals with a history of depression. It is also beneficial for those who experience stress or anxiety. Combining the concepts of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with principles of mindfulness, it is one of the most widely used and researched mindfulness-based approaches. MBCT was developed by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale, and is based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. The approach teaches a new way of relating to thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. This new way of relating to experience offers an alternative to the automatic routines that have been perpetuating difficulties.\nClinical research has demonstrated MBCT to be as effective as antidepressants in reducing relapse of depression, with the added benefit of enhancing your own innate ability to heal.\nMBCT is an eight-week program that meets for two hours a week, with about one hour of home practice daily. It requires a lot of commitment, but is very rewarding.\nIf you are interested in enrolling, please contact us to schedule an initial interview with Dr. Mirsky. This time with Dr. Mirsky serves as an introduction session and helps ensure that you and the program are a good fit.  \nPlease click here and complete our contact form\n\n\n#top #wrap_all .avia-button.av-av_button-151d1f10355bc662b91d55d0e3059c61{\nbackground-color:#6474a1;\nborder-color:#6474a1;\ncolor:#ffffff;\ntransition:all 0.4s ease-in-out;\n}\n#top #wrap_all .avia-button.av-av_button-151d1f10355bc662b91d55d0e3059c61 .avia-svg-icon svg:first-child{\nfill:#ffffff;\nstroke:#ffffff;\n}\n\nBegin Registration Process\nDr. Pam Mirsky (she/her) is board-certified in Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Integrative Medicine. She is a Qualified Teacher of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as defined by the UCSD Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute, and has trained with renowned teachers including Jon Kabat-Zinn and Zindel Segal. She is certified by the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy, and has graduated from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) and Mindfulness Mentor Training (MMT), both led by esteemed mindfulness teachers Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She is currently enrolled in the two-year Dedicated Practitioner Program (DPP) through Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She founded Mindful Hummingbird, PLLC to pursue teaching mindfulness full-time, and remains an Associate faculty member with the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. She aims to help individuals harness their own inner resources to better face the challenges of everyday life, and to share the powerful capacity of mindfulness to allow each of us to live with more ease, joy and wisdom, one moment at a time.\n \n \n\n
